Description

This 23/2/7% plasticised numbing gel combines three topical local anaesthetics—lignocaine (lidocaine), prilocaine and tetracaine—to provide effective superficial analgesia for intact skin. It works by blocking sodium channels in nerve membranes, preventing transmission of pain signals from the skin to the central nervous system. The synergistic combination enhances onset and depth of numbness, making it suitable for minor procedures such as needle sticks, IV cannulation, dermal injections, laser treatments or superficial dermatological work. Lignocaine and prilocaine are commonly used to prevent procedural pain, while the addition of tetracaine increases potency and duration of effect. Always apply as directed, limit to intact skin, and adhere to recommended application times to minimise systemic absorption and toxicity. Use with caution in patients with known local anaesthetic sensitivity.
