Description

Lignocaine/Prilocaine/Tetracaine in Oleabase Ointment 23/2/7% is a compounded topical local anaesthetic combining three agents to provide effective dermal analgesia. Lignocaine (lidocaine) and prilocaine are amide-type local anaesthetics that stabilise neuronal membranes by blocking sodium ion influx, inhibiting nerve impulse initiation and transmission to produce numbness. Tetracaine is an ester-type local anaesthetic that also blocks nerve signal transmission when applied to intact skin. Together in a greasy oleabase base, this high-strength formulation offers rapid, localized numbing of the skin for minor procedures such as venipuncture, laser treatments, dermal filler injections, or other superficial dermatological interventions. Topical anaesthetics should be applied only to intact skin as directed, avoiding open wounds and mucous membranes and observing precautions to minimise systemic absorption and toxicity.
